Siddu undecided on constituency, leaves it to high command

1 min read

Bengaluru: It seems former chief minister Siddaramaiah is still undecided on the constituency from which he will contest the next Assembly elections scheduled in April/ May 2023. So also former Union Minister K H Muniyappa of Kolar.

In the applications submitted to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), both the leaders have not mentioned the name of the constituency in the respective column, leaving it to the high command to take a call.

Siddaramaiah the incumbent Opposition Leader in Legislative Assembly currently represents Badami constituency in Bagalkot in the Assembly. However, he is unlikely to seek reelection from the same seat, as there is a mounting pressure on him to contest either from Varuna in Mysuru or Kolar.

Hence Siddaramaiah had recently visited Kolar to assess the ground reality. This also follows a request from the local leaders, who had met Siddaramaiah who is still looking for a comeback as CM, to contest from the land of mines.

Similarly Muniyappa is mulling over contesting the Assembly elections. A former MP who lost to Muniswamy in the parliamentary elections held in 2019, Muniyappa is exploring the possibilities of contesting either from Mulbagal or Devanahalli, both SC reserve constituencies.
