Portfolios allocated to ministers, but…

Bengaluru: A few days after inducting 17 ministers into the cabinet, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has finally allocated portfolios to the ministers.

But, the discontent remains, as several other minister hopefuls have been omitted from the ministerial berth.

The names of Thippa Reddy, Arvind Limbavali and others are doing rounds, to be taken into the cabinet in the second phase of cabinet expansion, but the question over prominent others still remains to be answered.

Balachandra Jarkiholi and Umesh Kathi from Belagavi, S A Ramadass from Mysuru, M P Renukacharya from Davangere and several others who were aspiring to be ministers are sulking and it’s no more a secret.

Following is the list of ministers and portfolios allocated to them.

Govind Karjol will handle both PWD and social welfare, Dr Ashwath Narayan C N, higher education, IT, BT and S&T, Laxman C Savadi, transport, K S Eshwarappa- rural development and Panchayat raj, R Ashok- revenue department excluding muzrai, Jagadish Shettar- large and medium scale industries, B Sriramulu- health and family welfare excluding medical education, S Suresh Kumar- primary and secondary education and sakala, V Somanna- housing, C T Ravi- tourism and Kannada and Culture Department, Basavaraj Bommai- home department excluding intelligence, Kota Srinivas Poojari- Muzrai, fisheries, ports and inland transport, J C Madhuswamy- Law and parliamentary affairs and legislation and minor irrigation, C C Patil- mines and geology, H Nagesh- excise, Prabhu Chauhan- animal husbandry and Shashikala Jolle- women and child development, empowerment of differently abled and senior citizens.
