One India! Special status for Jammu & Kashmir to be scrapped

New Delhi: As anticipated the BJP led National democratic alliance ( NDA) government at the centre has decided to scrap Article 370 that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir ( J&K). The article will be abrogated in parts after the assent of the President.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement at Rajya Sabha on Monday only to cause uproar with the opposition party members mainly people’s democratic party ( PDP) of J&K and Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD) storming into the well of the house.
The big announcement was anticipated as the central government had been taking precautionary measures, by beefing up security measures in the valley by deploying additional troops.
