MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan pays tribute to Gandhiji with a walkathon to Badanavalu village

Mysuru: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan celebrated Gandhi Jayanti – on Monday – in a unique way by walking up to Badanavalu village, which Mahatma Gandhi visited way back in 1932.
Dhruvanarayan led hundreds of party workers to Badanavalu from Town Municipal office. He garlanded Gandhi statue and walked from Rashtrapathi road to Badanavalu.

Badanavalu, a prominent centre for khadi and village industries, had drawn the attention of Gandhiji. He had visited the Badanavalu Khadi and Gramadyog Centre – set up in 1927 – surprisingly with only dalit women. The intention behind the centre was uplift the economy of dalits and the centre attracted Gandhiji’s attention with its success graph.
To pay tribute to the place, legislator held a walkathon to Badanavalu on Gandhi jayanti.
