Mysuru Division of South Western Railways Introduces the ’14 Minutes Miracle’ Cleaning Process for Chennai- Mysuru – Chennai Vande Bharat Train

Mysuru: As per the directions of Ministry of Railway, Mysuru division of South Western Railways proudly unveils a groundbreaking initiative known as the “14 Minutes Miracle.” This innovative cleaning process by Indian Railways is implemented for the Chennai-Mysuru-Chennai 16 coach Vande Bharat train, promises a paradigm shift in train cleanliness and efficiency.

The “14 Minutes Miracle” is meticulously designed to streamline the cleaning process of Vande Bharat trains upon their arrival at various terminals. Developed by Indian Railways, this pioneering approach ensures that comprehensive cleaning is accomplished in just 14 minutes, marking a substantial reduction in turnaround time and a significant enhancement of the passenger experience.

Key Highlights of the Cleaning Process

*Total cleaning staff deputed: 48 with 3 supervisors.

* Each coach receives attention from 3 dedicated staff members.

* Staff 1 collects garbage, performs dry mopping, and cleans outside window glass.

* Staff 2 dusts snack tables and seats, followed by wet mopping.

* Staff 3 empties dustbins, cleans toilets, mirrors, doorway areas, and meticulously mops these areas.

Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, expressed her appreciation for the unwavering dedication of all the staff involved in this exercise. She emphasized that the “14 Minutes Miracle” aims to streamline and reorient the cleaning process in Vande Bharat trains, ensuring they are more efficient and ready for return trips within a precise time frame.

Previously, cleaning 16 coaches of the Chennai-Mysuru-Chennai Vande Bharat train took about 30-45 minutes. With the introduction of the “14 Minutes Miracle,” the cleaning process is now a well-coordinated effort, with 3 cleaning staff members per coach working seamlessly to prepare the train for departure in just 14 minutes.

This initiative is a resolute step towards achieving global standards and is inspired by exceptional practices followed internationally. The Mysuru division of South Western Railways remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing passenger satisfaction and making train travel more convenient and enjoyable.

Earlier today, a Mega Swacchta Shramdaan drive was organized under the theme “Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath” at Mysuru Railway station. Smt. Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru division, South Western Railway, alongside other senior officers, staff from the division, and volunteers from Brahmakumari’s and other organizations, actively participated in this Shramdaan activity.

This event was part of a fortnight of Intensive cleanliness drive being organized on Mysuru division from 15th Sep to 02nd Oct. The Swacchta Pakhwada was organized with the aim of ensuring visible and tangible improvements in cleanliness at all its premises, including Railway stations, trains, offices, colonies, depots, hospitals, etc. Special attention was also given to cleaning of tracks, station premises, etc. throughout the fortnight drive, involving a systematic and detailed plan across different departments to cover maximum areas for cleaning.
