Chikkaballapura: CPM leader and former MLA G V Sriramreddy (67) died of cardiac arrest on Friday.
Sriramreddy collapsed at his residence in Bagepalli and breathed his last subsequently.
Sriramreddy represented Bagepalli constituency for two terms as CPM legislator in 1999 and 2004 in the Legislative Assembly.
For nearly five decades Reddy was one of the forces behind organising CPIM party in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh border districts, thus building a strong base for the party in those parts.
However in 2018, Reddy was expelled from the party over several allegations. However Reddy remained undeterred and continued to organise massive protests against anti- labour policies and unlawful measures of the government demanding justice for the downtrodden.
