Chandrayaan-3 soars into sky

Sriharikota: The Chandrayaan – 3 mission successfully launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 2.35 pm on Friday.

About 16 minutes after lift-off, propulsion module successfully separated from the rocket and it would orbit the earth for about 5-6 times in an elliptical cycle with 170 km closest and 36,500 km farthest from earth moving towards the lunar orbit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that “Success!#Chandrayaan-3 has soared into the sky, carrying our dreams and aspirations to new heights! Congratulations to isro and the dedicated team behind this remarkable achievement. We eagerly await the discoveries and insights that await us on the lunar surface!”

Sharing his thoughts, ISRO Chairman S Somanath said “Chandrayaan-3 has started its journey towards the moon. Our dear LVM3 has already put Chandrayaan-3 craft into the precise around earth…Let us wish all the best for the Chandrayaan-3 craft to make its farther orbit raising manoeuvres and travel towards the moon in the coming days…”
