Flood woes continue in national capital as Rajghat, Supreme Court inundated

Delhi: With River Yamuna swelling over, several prominent places like Rajghat, Supreme Court are being flooded in the worst ever nightmare that the national capital is witnessing.

The Delhi government has shut down schools, colleges, crematoriums and also water treatment plants as the water from River Yamuna started flooding Delhi.
The Rajghat area is completely submerged and the floodwaters have reached the Supreme Court located on Tilak Marg.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Home Minister and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena from France to get updates about the situation.

The water level in Yamuna has touched a record high of 208.62 metres as water from Hathini Kund barrage in Haryana was released.

Hundreds of people shifted to safe places due to rapid increase of Yamuna River water and created flood situation.
The chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) Thursday said estimated Rs 200 crore worth business have been affected due to flooding in parts of the capital city.
The National Capital business clock stopped. Busy market places in Delhi were waterlogged and the traders saw huge loss in business due to rain and flood.

Particularly Old Delhi, Chandini Chowk, Lajpat Rai market, Fatehpuri and Naya Bazar have been waterlogged by Yamuna overflow.
