1 min read

Sriharikota: All eyes are on the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh as the countdown for the launch of Chandrayaan – 3 has begun. The launch is scheduled on July 14, at 2.35 pm.

Building upon the critical aspects of Chandrayaan-2, the scientists aim to demonstrate several capabilities with Chandrayaan-3. These include reaching the moon’s orbit, achieving a soft landing on the lunar surface using a lander, and deploying a rover to study the moon’s surface.

After the lift-off at 2.35 pm, approximately 16 minutes later, the propulsion module will separate from the rocket. It will then orbit the Earth in an elliptical cycle, with the closest point at 170 km and the farthest point at 36,500 km from Earth, gradually moving towards the lunar orbit. The spacecraft’s journey from Earth to the moon is expected to take approximately a month, with the landing anticipated on August 23.
