Accident near Gundlupet! 2 killed as bus mows down riders

Chamarajanagar: In a serial mishap, two vehicle riders were killed after a speeding tourist bus knocked down their two-wheelers and ran over them on Mysuru- Gundlupet highway (NH- 766) in front of Assisi Hospital near Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district on Tuesday. 

The deceased are Raju (45) of Madralli village and Venkaiah (70) of Kilara village in Chamarajanagar taluk.

The incident occurred when the driver of tourist bus bearing Arunachal Pradesh registration number and owned by Kallada Travels proceeding from Gundlupet to Mysuru, lost control over the steering and rammed the two motorbikes.

Raju was killed on the spot. Venkaiah whose right leg was severed, with blood oozing, succumbed to the grievous, injuries enroute hospital to Mysuru.

The board of the Assisi Hospital on the road side was also hit and fell down, before the bus came to a screeching halt, at the bushy area amid the trees next to compound wall of the hospital.

Gundlupet police are investigating the case.
