Yoga Day: Religious heads perform yogasana

Mysuru: Fifth International Yoga Day was celebrated in the city, with many yoga enthusiasts turning up at Mysore Race Club ground on Friday.
Braving morning mist and cold, the young and old alike made their way towards the sprawling ground.

From religious heads to ministers, officials to common man, people from different walks of life converged at the ground, that provided the perfect setting for the theme of this year- Yoga for harmony and peace with Chamundi Hill overlooking the ground.

Barring Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra and Avadhoota Datta peeth’s Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, the other religions heads Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adhichunchanagiri mutt, Somanatha Swamiji of Mysuru branch mutt and Sir Khazi of Mysuru Syed Usman Sharief actively took part by performing various asanas on the specially erected dais.

Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath, Ministers G T Devegowda and Sa Ra Mahesh, MLAs S A Ramdas and L Nagendra, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations R Raju and other officials also took part.
