Mysuru: Former minister and MLC A H Vishwanath on Tuesday demanded the chief minister to withdraw the decision to conduct SSLC exams in the state.

Vishwanath has come out with the demand, a day after the incumbent Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar announced the decision to conduct SSLC exams on July 19 and 22, on Monday.
Addressing media, Vishwanath also a former education minister reminded the chief minister about the New Education Policy (NEP) which emphasises more on learning than exams to evaluate the students ability.
“Education minister and government have failed to protect the rights of children and their educational rights. NEP points about exams not being the ultimate goal. But, these governments are busy and acting in haste to conduct the exams. I demand Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa should withdraw the decision on SSLC examinations.”
Vishwanath also criticised the decision to consider the marks of first PUC to decide the fate of second PUC students as totally unscientific and nonsense.
Government should disclose the names of those in Experts Committee.
Initially Dr C N Manjunath and Dr Devi Shetty, the well known names in the realm of health care had expressed fears about third wave of Covid 19. While the same experts report is considered for conducting SSLC exams. It is really confusing and hence the government, should provide accurate details about experts committee.
Vishwanath felt that parents and students have the authority to decide on the examination. As it will be truly difficult for the students to write the exams without going to class.
