Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar gives a ‘dose’ of warning to DHO

Mysuru: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday warned DHO Dr K H Prasad against going to media on the matters related to ongoing vaccination drive.

Sudhakar who was in the city to review the Covid situation in the district with test positivity rate still above five per cent, chaired a meeting of the top officers. 

Sudhakar warned DHO Dr Prasad who was also attending the meeting, not to discuss with media about on going vaccination process. Only deputy commissioner should give the details to media, Sudhakar added.

There is no shortage of vaccination as we have sufficient stock of vials and lakhs of vaccines are given to people on a daily basis. We have a stock of five lakh doses of Covid vaccines. I have also spoken with the central government demanding additional vaccines. Our state has administered highest doses of vaccines in the country,” Sudhakar said.

On the cases of Delta variants in the district, Sudhakar said “We have planned to set up an exclusive laboratory in Mysuru and 20 hotspots are marked in the State. While in Mysuru district, Periyapatna and Bannur also marked and declared as containment zones.”

Regarding the controversy surrounding SSLC examinations, Dr Sudhakar refused to comment as the chief minister has already commented over it.
