Voluntary shutdown! Eerie silence in Nanjangud as five more test positive

Mysuru: Temple town, Nanjangud is the new epic centre of Covid-19 in Mysuru district as five more new cases have been tested positive here, alone.

Considering the gravity of the situation, the district administration has classified it as ‘Cluster Town’ and has kept Nanjangud under Red Alert.

The district administration has prohibited entry and exit points to Nanjangud. The Nanjangud Industrial zone area mainly Tagdur industrial area, Immavu industrial area and the pharmaceutical factory in Kallahalli are completely restricted.

It may be recalled here that after a person working in a pharmaceutical factory tested positive, the district administration screened more than 1,000 workers in Nanjangud. Now, five more persons who have tested positive are suspected to have contracted virus from him. For, most of these affected are the employees of the same factory in Nanjanud. They are now home quarantined and are under observation.

After the news broke out about the five more new cases, the temple town witnessed voluntary shut down by grocery stores that were allowed to open in the lockdown.
Youths of Srirampura in Nanjangud distributed masks to every household and appealed them to stay indoors and prevent the spread of the virus.
