Victory to greens! Ropeway to Chamundi Hill dropped

Mysuru: In a pyrrhic victory to environmentalists, the state government has dropped its proposal to build ropeway to Chamundi Hill in the city.
Cooperation and district incharge minister S T Somashekar told media persons about the decision to drop the aforesaid project, after a meeting to review the progress of tourism department in the city.
Somashekar said “the decision has been taken in consonance with the demand and sentiments of green lovers and devotees. The hill is well connected both by road and stairs with the devotees and tourists using both the means. Even bus connectivity is available to the hill”.
Instead it was discussed to form a temple development authority to take up comprehensive development works. The matter will be discussed with the chief minister, along with that of shifting the stalls near the temple, said Somashekar.
