TN releases water from Mettur dam

Tamil Nadu: Two thousand cusecs of water has been released from Mettur dam to facilitate irrigation activities on August 13.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy performed puja to the dam before releasing the water. The reservoir has a total capacity to hold 120 feet of water and the present water level had touched 94 feet.
The government will be releasing 10,000 cusecs of water daily for the next 168 days.
Following heavy rains in the catchment area of KRS dam in Karnataka, the government in that State had been releasing water to the river, that flowed towards Mettur from Biligundlu side in Karnataka.
