Tension grips village in N’gud rural! Water tank ‘spiked’ with pesticide

Mysuru: Tension prevails at Kurahatti village in Nanjangud taluk in the district after the village tank was allegedly found mixed with pesticide. It was the source of water to the village, which is thickly populated.
As the tap water was found emanating tepid smell, villagers suspected something fishy and alerted others dissuading all not to use it for consumption. However, till then the livestock and cattle which were fed with same water had fell ill.
Following this, the villagers informed police. It was later found that the tank water had been allegedly spiked with pesticide used for paddy plantations.
Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Srinivas and DySP Govindaraju visited the spot and assured to punish the culprits.
Later taluk panchayat officials made arrangements to supply water through tankers, but people are still tensed.
