District minister inspects Covid control measures at Karnataka- Kerala border

Mysuru: Cooperation and district minister St T Somashekar on Wednesday inspected the measures in place to check Covid-19 at Karnataka- Kerala border at Bavali checkpost.

The minister said ” In the wake of spike in Covid cases at Kerala, it has been made mandatory for those crossing the border to produce RTPCR negative report. Or else, the travellers will be sent back to the God’s own country.”

Due to increase in the rate of infection, there has been a dip in the number of inter- state vehicles. Barely about 120 to 130 vehicles are coming towards Mysuru from Kerala.

The authorities at Kerala have opened a testing centre at the border to test the samples of those who fail to produce certificate. Similar measures will be initiated from our side too, said Somashekar.

We have also ensured that the farmers are not put into crises, as most of the produces are supplied to Kerala, the minister added.

H D Kote MLA Anil Chikkamadu, SP C B Rhyshyanth, Tahsildar Naragund, THO Ravikumar were present.
