Teaching is a noble profession, says Bangalore University VC

Mysuru: Prof K R Venugopal, Vice- chancellor, Bangalore University said “a teacher must learn without getting frustrated. A teacher should be life-long learner who should adopt and adept himself to the changing principles of education”.
He praised the Indian way of life which has a great scope for modern learning based on the concept of Vasudeva Kutumbakam.
Speaking on the occasion of UGC Sponsored “Four-Day Frontier Lecture Series” on Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Social Sciences & Humanities and Commerce & Management organised by JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru for enrichment of teachers under CPE Scheme on February 25 at the Golden Jubilee Hall of the college, Venugopal felt that the development in the field of Science and Technology, especially Internet of Things and Nanotechnology will revolutionise the world. Hence a Teacher should equip himself with latest knowledge; to compete with virtual teacher and should go through the different phases of life like a student, teacher, researcher, mentor and the like.
The strength of India lies in its knowledge and skill but he regretted that unfortunately today merit has taken a back seat. Inspite of adverse environment a teacher should impart knowledge with happiness and contentment, said Venugopal.
Dr C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha presiding over the programme remarked that “education is the single most important sector for the all over development of the society. A teacher has to continuously update himself to be abreast with the intense competition of the age of choice. He felt that the time has come to redefine the system of education and role of teacher”.

Teachers numbering more than 500 from different colleges of the stateware taking part in the four-day programme.
