Mysuru: Getting rid of manual intervention, tax departments are largely relying on technological intervention.
Beginning this Vijayadashami, tax department officials will be adopting ‘faceless assessment, where they will be interacting with the assessees either through SMS, WhatsApp, emails to resolve the issues’, said Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Two meetings have been already held to apprise the officials at Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, followed by Mysuru. Meetings are also held with chartered accountants.
Reacting to economic slowdown, Nirmala said “It’s not just in India, the situation is the same across the globe”.
Strongly hitting out at the Congress for making allegations against BJP over rhe arrest of former finance minister P Chidambaram, Nirmala said “Congress should introspect before making the allegations, as CBI and ED have right to seek the information”.
