Mysuru: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths probing into the alleged suicide attempt by KSRTC driver-cum-conductor Jagadish, recorded his statement at Manipal Hospital in the city on Thursday.
Sources said “CID personnel also quizzed Jagadish who is now recuperating at the general ward of the hospital. The relatives of Jagadish were asked to stay out of the ward while CID men questioned him on camera.”
It may be recalled that, Jagadish who was working in KSRTC Nagamangala bus depot in Mandya district attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide on July 5, following his transfer. The incident led to a heated political debate as Jagadish blamed Nagamangala MLA and Agriculture Minister N Cheluvaraya Swamy for his transfer. Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of JDS had raked up the issue demanding the resignation of Cheluvarayaswamy, during the ongoing Assembly session.
Following this, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara had ordered for CID probe into the incident.
The CID team led by IGP Praveen Madhukar Pawar took up the investigation and started from a fertiliser agency where Jagadish had bought pesticide. The doctors who treated Jagadish upon his admission for suicide attempt, were also subjected to questioning at BGS hospital in Nagamangala, it is said.
