Revanna fires fresh salvo: Won’t contest from Holenarasipur if Bhavani is not given Hassan ticket

Hassan: Seemingly frustrated over not confirming a ticket to his wife, Bhavani Revanna, to contest from Hassan Assembly constituency, her husband and JDS MLA from Holenarasipur H D Revanna has fired fresh last salvo by stating that if Bhavani is not allowed to contest from Hassan Assembly constituency then he too would not contest from Holenarasipur.

At a meeting held with party leaders and his close associates here on Friday, Revanna expressed his opinion and the leaders present in the meeting reportedly consented to it.

Many present in the meeting observed that the party needs to field a strong candidate in Hassan constituency to give tough fight to the BJP. Fielding a party worker from Hassan constituency would not help the party in any way. Agreeing to their opinion, Revanna reportedly said that there is no point in him fighting from Holenarasipur if the party cannot retain Hassan Assembly constituency, considered the forte of JDS. Currently, Hassan is represented by BJP MLA. Revanna has reportedly sent his opinion to party supremo H D Deve Gowda and other leaders.

Ever since Deve Gowda’s daughter-in-law Bhavani Revanna has thrown her hat in the ring for Hassan ticket, the JDS has been finding it tough to finalise a ticket for Hassan seat. While former chief minister and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy is insisting on H P Swaroop to contest from Hassan constituency. This has led to the bickering between the brothers out in the open. So far, the party has not been finalised a ticket for Hassan constituency.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that Revanna and Bhavani may contest as independent candidates, if the party fails to give ticket to Bhavani Revanna.
