Sugarcane association leaders demand PSI’s suspension

Mysuru: Following the arrest of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha State vice- president H C Lokesh Raje Urs, a delegation of leaders of Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association on Friday met in-charge SP Dharmendar Kumar Meena.
Association State president Kurbur Shanthakumar set a deadline of two days to the police authorities to suspend the PSI of Bettadapura station for arresting Urs, with a motive to curb the farmers movement. The case against the farmer leader should be withdrawn and inquiry should be initiated by entrusting the task to another police officer.
The SP who appealed to the association to maintain calm, said that ‘the DySp has been asked to vet into the nitty-gritty of the case to initiate further action in the case’.
The delegation included State organisation secretary Attahalli Devaraj, district working president Hallikerehundi Rajanna, general secretary Kiragasur Shankar, secretary Parashivamurty, taluk president kurbur Siddesh, leaders Baradanapura Nagaraj, Mahadevappa, Kanakapura Ravi and Muddalinge Gowda.
