Organ donation! Mysuru youth saves four lives

Mysuru: A 27-year- old youth has saved four lives before he was pronounced dead in the city.
The doctors at Apollo BGS Hospitals in the city retrieved his organs and transported it to Bengaluru, while two organs were donated to the same hospital.
Chandrashekar from Niveditha Nagar had met with a road traffic accident near Ganangur village in Srirangapatna on December 14 at about 10.30 PM. He was brought to the hospital.at a very critical stage at about 12.30 am on December 15.
Following the initial tests and rigorous evaluation he was declared brain dead at the hospital as per the protocol stipulated by Transplant of Human Organs Act 1994.
As he was healthy before the mishap, the relatives were counselled for organ donation.
On December 17 at 7 am, the following organs were retrieved- Heart to Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru, one kidney to NU Hospital in Bengaluru and another kidney and liver were donated to same hospital Apollo BGS Mysuru.
A green corridor with zero traffic facility was ensured from the hospital to transport the organs in ambulance in time to Bengaluru.
