Big fine! MCC imposes Rs 7,000 penalty on supermarket for littering

Mysuru: In a continued drive against littering waste in public, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials have imposed a penalty of Rs 7,000 on a supermarket in the city.

A team of health officials led by Health Officer Dr D G Nagaraj inspected a few public spots in Zone- 1 in the city.

During the inspection it was found that used sugarcane were found strewn around a tree on the footpath of Big Bazaar supermarket on JLB road. The courtyard in the front was also untidy.

A penalty of Rs 5,000 was levied for disposing waste in public place and Rs 2,000 for not segregating the waste, totalling Rs 7,000.

Medical waste disposed in front of a medical shop at Agrahara in Mysuru.

Similarly three medical stores at Agrahara were made to pay a fine of Rs 500 each for disposing medical waste in an unscientific manner.

Environment Engineer Poornima and Health Inspector Harish T D were present during the inspection.
