Official on poll duty dies in Hanur

Hanur: An official on polling duty who was ‘declared’ dead in the morning – after he tripped while climbing steps – was found to be alive by afternoon, but was brought dead to hospital by evening! A strange but true story of how life missed out in between a few hours has been reported in Hanur, Chamarajanagar district on Tuesday.
An official on poll duty died in Hanur, Chamarajanagar district on Tuesday. The deceased is identified as Jagdish (40).
Jagadish, an employee at the Treasury Department was in town to attend a training on elections organised for ARO and PROs at Vivekananda School here on Tuesday. Jagadish reportedly tripped while climbing steps sustaining severe injuries to his chin. Besides, back of his head was severely bleeding so he was rushed to
Holy Cross Hospital in the town. But the doctors over there had declared that Jagadish had died on the way.
The cause of death was shown as heart attack. Deputy Commissioner D S Ramesh visited the hospital, saw Jagadish who was lying still. He collected information from officials and medical staff.
Jagadish’s body was shifted to primary health centre in Hanur for postmortem from Holy Cross Hospital. Jagadish’s mother – who went to see the body – felt that his hands moved when she touched the body. She immediately alerted the staff over there. Taluk medical officer in-charge Dr Prakash checked the pulse and found that Jagadish was still alive. He was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospitals in Mysuru. But he died while on the way to Mysuru hospital.
It is reported that Jagadish’s ECG reports were flat and there were no pulse when he was rushed to Holy Cross Hospitals. Hence, he was declared dead. But by evening, the taluk medical officer had reported the pulse, so he was shifted to Mysuru. But he died on the way, said doctors in Mysuru.
