Mangaluru: A group of tourists from Mangaluru were a part of the historical moment on the occassion of World Tourism Day on Monday.
Youth of GSB a tourist group from the coastal city and only group from Karnataka were witness to the inauguration of Siachin Base Camp for tourists at Ladakh, the highest battle field of the country.
It is an initiative of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh.
Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal who inaugurated the new tourist attraction at Varshi the last village of India described it as one of the historical decisions of Modi led government.
“Apart from giving an impetus to tourism development, it will economically develop Ladakh region. The tourists shall have an access to one of the toughest battle fields in military area, suffice to boost the spirit of the Indian soldiers. Though the country was ruled by several governments in the post independence years, no government had taken such a decision,” Namgyal added.
Namgyal thanked the tourists who had come from the different parts of the country who were a witness to this historical moment.
Youth of GSB Team was led by Mangalpady Naresh Shenoy.
