Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh to quit Congress

1 min read

New Delhi: Less than a fortnight after quitting as Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh has decided to quit even the Congress party.

Amarinder Singh, 79, resigned as the chief minister on September 18, on the instructions of Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi.

If Amarinder sticks to his decision to bid adieu to the party he was associated with for five decades, it will be yet another jolt to the grand old party.

While Amarinder has decided to dispatch his resignation to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, it remains to be seen what will be the next step of Amarinder a seasoned politician, who restored Congress government fighting SAD-BJP coalition government that was in power for long.

Amarinder has also clarified that he won’tbe joining BJP, but will leave Congress unable to bear the insult.
