Museum Malgudi all set to open! Take a trip down memory lane

Shivamogga: Mention Malgudi Days and it’s sufficient to take a trip down memory lane. And, it will be for permanent with Museum Malgudi all set to open at defunct Arasalu railway station building in the district on Saturday.
Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh C Angadi will inaugurate a slew of facilities in the district through web link at 11 am. It includes the lift at Shivamogga Railway station along with restored station building, extension of platform and enhanced passengers amenities along with Malgudi Museum at Arasalu.
It was a long pending demand from rail users and various ororganisations in Shivamogga which has been met with the installation of two heavy duty lift connecting platform one and the island platform 2/3 at Shivamogga Railway Station. The work has been executed in a short span of time amid COVID pandemic.
With the installation of lift the train passengers especially the elderly persons and Divyangjan (didabled), who are not able to climb the stairs, will be greatly benefitted.
A slew of passenger amenities have been provided at Arasalu halt station including extension of platform, upgradation and concreting of station approach road and improvement to circulating area, provision of low cost platform shelters, water pedestals and toilets.
Apart from the various passenger amenities, the old dilapidated station building which is few metres away from present station building has been restored and recreated as Museum Malgudi.
It is to be recalled that the famous television serial ‘Malgudi Days’ was filmed in these environs during 80’s.
MP B Y Raghavendra havendra, RDPR Minister and district incharge K S Eshwarappa and other elected representatives, Swastshri Devendrakeerti Mahaswamiji of Humcha and Shri Renukananda Swamiji of Nittur math will also participate in the e-function through web-link, according to Priya Shetty
