State mulls water from AP to meet the needs of Gowribidanur: Dr K Sudhakar

Chikkaballapur: Minister for Medical Education and district incharge Dr K Sudhakar said “Government is considering sharing of water from Andhra Pradesh to mitigate the scarcity of water in Gowribidanur taluk here”. 

He was speaking at a programme organised by the town municipality here in Gowribidanur.

Drinking water is the main problem in this taluk and we are planning to get 10-15 TMC water from Andhra Pradesh which can be given back to them from other parts of the state. One round of discussion has been held with water resources minister regarding this and will be implemented soon”, the Minister said.

Earlier in the day the minister initiated various development works under Nagaroththana project at the cost of Rs 7.29 crore in the town. Also the ninister distributed cheques for Rs 5,000 each to beneficiaries under medical assistance scheme. He also distributed possession certificates to the beneficiaries of Ashraya scheme and Identity cards to street vendors.

Sudhakar said that “our government is committed for the development of Chikkaballapur. A request has been made to the Chief Minister to include Chikkaballapur in tier-2 cities which will provide many incentives for setting up of industries. Our aim is to establish industries at every taluks in the district”, he said.

We are committed to implement Yettinahole project, the Minister added.

He also said that the tourist places like Vidurashwatha will be developed to attract more tourists.

MLA Shivashankara Reddy, Zilla Panchayat President Chikkanarasimhaiah, former MLA Jyoti Reddy, deputy Commissioner R Latha and other officials were present.

CM monitoring from hospital

Responding to the media, the minister said, “17 districts are under heavy rain since few days. Chief Minister is constantly monitoring the situation and ensuring that relief measures are taken. Though admitted in the hospital, CM is giving all necessary instructions to the ninisters and officials to control the situation. Affected people have been shifted to safe places. Our government is effectively tackling the flood situation”. Sudhakar said.
