Minister Somanna to contest from Chamarajanagar? His sudden plan to visit constituency raises speculation

Chamarajanagar: Housing and Infrastructure Minister V Somanna’s expected visit to Chamarajanagar on Tuesday has led to speculations that he may be contesting from Chamarajanagar Assembly constituency.
His supporters and followers are upbeat about his visit and their WhatsApp groups are filled with ‘Welcome Somanna’ messages.
The minister is expected to take part in the BJP Jilla Raitha Morcha programme and later will offer prayers at MM Hills.
Rumours were rife that Somanna may contest from Varuna or Chamarajanagar Assembly constituencies. Although nothing has been finalised as the BJP is yet to announce the list of candidates, his sudden visit to Chamarajanaagr has set the rumour mills buzzing through the day.
Meanwhile, until Monday, BJP Jilla Raitha Morcha president Mallikarjun was unaware of Somanna’s visit when he spoke to the media. But they are all now excited with his sudden surprise.
Speculations are rife that Somanna may have got the ticket to contest from Chamarajanagar, hence he is visiting the Assembly constituency. Besides, his plans to offer prayers to Mahadeshwaraswami at the MM Hills, which is said to be his family diety, has only added to the speculations.
