MCC council meeting today! Marriage Hall Owners Association looking for a breather

1 min read
Mysuru: With the council of Mysuru City Corporation ( MCC) convened today, Mysuru Kalyana Mantapa Owners Association are hopeful that the city Corporation will come to their rescue.
On the eve of the meeting on Monday, Association president Satyanarayan K R petitioned Mayor Tasneem to waive off tax for the year.
According to the memorandum, it is succinctly explained that “the marriage hall owners have incurred heavy losses due to the cancellation of bookings in the wake of pandemic. The future also also appears bleak at least till March next, with the cap on 50 to 100 invitees for marriages. In this backdrop nobody will opt for the ceremony at marriage halls”.
The owners have to bear expenses of paying GST, light bill, water bill, salary and other expenditures.
To mention, it is only in the city that certain buildings and marriage halls are considered as super commercial. Such classification should be cancelled and  tax slabs should be slashed considering the Coronavirus crises, the Association has urged mayor.
Association secretary Vinay Venkatesh, Hotel Owners Association President C Narayan Gowda and Bhaskar Shetty were present.
