Mandi police in dock! Inspector, UoM workers among six booked for ‘folding’ fake answer scripts racket

Mysuru: In a startling revelation, it has come to light that the city police who had busted a fake answer script racket, allegedly hushed up the case in no time.
Following the memo received from Police Commissioner’s office, Mandi police have filed a FIR against six including the Inspector and staff of the same police station.
The accused are- Mohammed Nissar, an employee of the University of Mysore, contract employee Rakesh, students Chandan and Chetan, owner of Blue Diamond Lodge and Mandi Police Inspector Narayanswamy and staff.
It came to light after Somasundar joint secretary of Karnataka Rashtra Samithi Paksha filed a complaint at police Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, the memo of which was sent to Mandi police station on Wednesday to initiate further action.
In his complaint, Somasunder has alleged that “the first four accused were involved in preparing fake answer scripts of BSc chemistry exam of the University of Mysore at the lodge on B N road on April 21. The exams were already conducted on April 15 and 17.”
The police Inspector Narayanswamy who had a wind of the racket raided the lodge along with his team and took all the accused into the station for further inquiry. However, he let off all the accused after they greased his palms, alleged Somasunder.
Before that, the Inspector collected only their statements without filing a case considering the severity of the Irregularities. It was also not brought to the notice of the varsity authorities, alleged Somasunder who pursued the case after being tipped off in this regard from the student wing of the party.
The motive was to replace the answer scripts with the original to help the students. It was arranged to rewrite the answer scripts at the lodge.
A case has been booked under IPC sections420, 406, 408, 470, 471, 472 473, and 474.
