Mysuru: Advocate and social activist Paduvarahalli Ramakrishna on Friday staged a lone protest in his house, strongly opposing the recent decision of the state government to sell more than 3,000 acres of land to JSW Steel Ltd in Ballari.

Ramakrishna questioned what was the urgency on the part of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to sell 3,667 acres land to Jindal Company in Ballari, when the State is reeling under Covid induced crises.

The decision should be revoked and instead health emergency must be declared in the State. Free treatment should be given to Covid patients, he demanded.

Ramakrishna who is also the Vice- president of The Mysore Cooperative Bank Limited, Gandhi Square told Mysoorunews.com “across the country and also state people are dying, as the pandemic has created a biggest ever tragedy. At least, the nearby States have taken steps to provide free treatment for Covid-19 cases. Andhra Pradesh state government has also declared free treatment. Why not in Karnataka? he asked.

BJP MLC A H Vishwanath also raised the issue of selling the land. We are thankful to him, as he showed the guts to pound the government with strong words, Ramakrishna said.
