Mandya: In his maiden visit to Mandya, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath slammed the Congress for supporting religion-based reservation claiming it was unconstitutional.
Addressing a huge gathering here on Wednesday, Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people to vote for BJP as only the double-engine governments ensure development. Referring to his own State, Yogi Adityanath said that there has not been a single incident of violence witnessed in the last six years and this was has been possible due to the double engine government.
Making a searing attack on the Congress, Yogi Adityanath claimed that the Congress has been appeasing Popular Front of India, hence they want reservation based on religion. But this is unacceptable in the constitution, he observed. “The country was divided on the basis of religion in 1947. We are not ready for another partition,” said Adityanath.
Taking a dig at Congress, Yogi Adityanath said that Congress had only ‘Five year plan’ of laying foundations. But after PM Modi came to power, development is flowing in every sector in the country.
He appealed to the people to vote for BJP to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hands in making India, a developed nation. “Modi ji is the captain of Team India and ensure his team has maximum number of Karnataka players,” he appealed to the audience.
Earlier, he emphasised on the bond shared between Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. “Adichunchanagiri Math is here and Lord Kalabhairaveshwara resides in Uttar Pradesh. Karnataka is the land of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh,” he added. He thanked the BJP Karnataka for inviting him to Mandya. “You have all participated in Ram Janma Bhoomi campaign and the Ram Mandir will be ready by 2024 January. That will be a Historic Day in the country. I cordially invite you all for that occasion” he added.
Mandya MP Sumalatha, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha and MLA Dr Ashwathnarayan accompanied him.
