Karnataka elections: MP Suresh outsmarts political calculations, files papers from Kanakapura
1 min read

Ramanagar: In a surprising move, MP D K Suresh filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Kanakapura Assembly constituency. Already, KPCC President D K Shivakumar had filed his nomination on April 17. And it was highly speculated that D K Suresh would be fielded against BJP’s R Ashok in Padmanabhanagar constituency. But, Suresh outsmarted all speculation.
It is said that in view of several charges against Shivakumar in disproportionate assets case, the party did not want to take any risk. The party did not want to lose Shivakumar’s bastion in case any legal or technical hurdles pose. As a back up, Suresh filed his nomination.
In fact since two days, Shivakumar kept saying that Suresh would be fielded but didn’t reveal the constituency.
On Thursday – the last day to file nomination – Suresh told mediapersons that he was going to Bengaluru to file nomination.
But in a surprising move, he went quietly to Kanakapura returning office abd filed his nomination without any fan fare as if to avoid any attention.
