Karnataka elections: ‘Fielding Srivatsa is BJP’s first defeat in KR constituency’

Mysuru: It is BJP’s first defeat to field Srivatsa over S A Ramadas for Krishnaraja Assembly constituency.
For, no one in the constituency knows Srivatsa. He has never interacted with the people of the constituency but is fighting the election from a prestigious constituency like Krishnaraja, mocked KPCC spokesperson H A Venkatesh.
Addressing a gathering at Indira Gandhi Congress office here on Tuesday, Venkatesh said despite losing the election five years ago, Congress leader M K Somashekhar has always responded to the people here. “He did not sit idle at home, instead has been touring the constituency for the past five years. He was the first leader in the constituency who came out to help people during the pandemic. He deserves a win this election,” Venkatesh campaigned for Somashekhar.
Attacking on BJP candidate Srivatsa, Venugopal said Srivatsa has disappointed the people as he has no future plan for the people of the constituency. “He wants to fulfil the dreams of MLA S A Ramadas. Is this something he wants to do for people,” Venkatesh sought to know.
Listing out Congress’ schemes, he said the Congress has already announced its plans for the people and the party workers should strive to take these programmes to every door in the constituency and ensure Congress’ win in the election.
Addressing the gathering Congress candidate M K Somashekhar said that he wants to focus on development aspects of his constituency rather than making attacks on his opponents. “I may have lost the election five years ago. But that did not come in the way for my commitment to my constituency. Irrespective of power, I have always strived to be with the people and listen to their grievances. I have the support of all the communities in the constituency,” Somashekhar said and appealed the gathering to vote for him.
On the occasion, BJP and other party workers joined Congress.
