Ex-Congress MLA Vasu’s supporters join BJP

Mysuru: Former Congress MLA Vasu, who has been denied ticket to contest this time may have declared that he will not desert the party as the party was like his “baby”. But his supporters, upset with the way Congress party treated their leader, do not seem to buy his argument.
For, many of them joined BJP in the presence of BJP National Organising Secretary B L Santosh at Hotel Rio Meridian here on Friday.
Former MLA Vasu had repeatedly attempted to secure a party ticket and had even lobbied with former Chief Minister and his mentor M Veerappa Moily at the AICC level. But in vain.
Instead, the Congress chose K Harish Gowda, who joined the party from JDS, as candidate for the Chamaraja Assembly constituency.
Despite these setbacks, Vasu had recently declared that he would remain committed to the Congress party.
But, some of his followers, including ex-corporator Prashanth Gowda joined the BJP, in the presence of Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, BJP leaders Vikram Iyengar and others.
