Karnataka elections: Congress-BJP workers clash at Siddaramanahundi in Varuna, one injured

Mysuru: As elections in Varuna Assembly constituency is turning out to be a battle of prestige between Congress and BJP, a BJP worker was injured in a clash between workers of Congress-BJP at Siddaramanahundi, the native of Opposition Leader in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, in Varuna Assembly constituency, here on Thursday evening.

The injured has been identified as Nagesh, son of Keelanapura Manjanna.
Nagesh is admitted to JSS Hospital on M G Road in Mysuru city, with a fractured right hand and is undergoing treatment. More details are awaited.
It is said that, tension erupted as BJP workers reached Siddaramanahundi to campaign for BJP candidate V Somanna.
Congress workers allegedly manhandled BJP workers near Congress candidate Siddaramaiah’s kin’s residence.
It is said that BJP candidate V Somanna and MP Pratap Simha too was present when the incident occurred.
Now, BJP is planning to register a Police complaint against Congress workers.
Varuna has turned out to be a battle of prestige, with Siddaramaiah in the fray.
Somanna who represents Govindarajanagar in Bengaluru, is trying his luck in Varuna and Chamarajanagar constituencies in the election.
