Belagavi: It was a big relief for BJP candidate Ratna Anand Mamani for Saundatti Yellamma constituency as her nomination papers were cleared in the scrutiny after objections were raised by the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates.
Her nomination papers were found to be intact and in compliance with the revised ‘B’ form.
Wife of Late Anand Mamani, former deputy speaker of Karnataka Assembly, Ratna said she was confident that she did nothing wrong in filing nomination papers and they would be cleared.
Congress candidate Vishwas Vaidya and AAP candidate Bapugowda Patil had raised objections that the nomination papers filed by her were as per 2018 model and she had not filed the papers as per the revised ‘B’ form.
Following this Returning officer Dr Rajiv Koler had served notice to Ratna and she had submitted her papers for the second time. But, objections were raised on this too.
Ratna was summoned for inquiry on Saturday and later, after scrutiny, her nomination papers were approved.
