It’s play time! V Prabhakar Memorial Legends Cricket Tournament begins at Glades

Mysuru: Two-day V Prabhakar Memorial Legends Cricket Tournament began at SDNRW Stadium (Gangotri Glades) in the city on Saturday.

The T10 tournament was inaugurated by Vice-chancellor Prof G Hemanth Kumar iinaugurated he tournament by batting a ball.

Hemanth Kumar said “it’s good to see the players who once represented the University of Mysore in cricket playing again. The university is signing a new Memorandum of Understanding with Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to further develop SDNRW Stadium. I wish all the best for all the cricketers”, Hemanth Kumar added.

Navodaya Cricket Club Chairman KR Mohan Kumar, KSCA Mysuru Zone Convener Sudhakar Rai, University of Mysore Physical Education director P Krishnaiah, Navodaya Cricket Club secretary Srinivas Prasad P were present.

Five teams are taking part in the T10 tournament. VP Royals, VP Warriors, VP Dynamos, VP Challengers and VP Maharajas.

VP Royals -M R Suresh Captain, VP Warriors – Prajwal Raj captain, VP Dynamos- A Venkateshwara captain, VP Challengers- G V Ravi Captain and VP Maharajas- Bharath Chipli captain.

V Prabhakar who was popular for Prabhakar’s Cricket Clinic is considered as one of the strong pillars of cricket especially in Mysuru.

An ace cricketer of his time with the peers like Syed Kirmani, G R Vishwanath, Roger Binny and others, Prabhakar groomed many of the finest talents.
