Indian Meteorological Department sounds alert at seven ports in Karnataka

Karwar, Mangaluru, Panambur, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Gangoli and Malpe Ports
Karwar: Indian Meterological department, has sounded alert to seven ports in Karnataka regarding very severe cyclonic storm “Tauktae”.

The severe cyclonic storm “Tauktae” over east central Arabian Sea moved nearly northwards with a speed of about 9 kmph during past 6 hours, intensified into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm and lay centred at 2-30 hours of today, 16th May, 2021 over east central Arabian Sea about 150 km southwest of Panjim-Goa, 490 km south of Mumbai, 730 km south-southeast of Veraval (Gujarat) and 870 km south-southeast of Karachi (Pakistan).
It is very likely to intensify further during the next 12 hours. It is very likely to move northwestwards and reach Gujarat coast in the evening hours of 17th May and cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva (Bhavnagar district) around 18th May early morning.
Port warning issued to Seven ports of Karnataka- Karwar, Mangaluru, Panambur, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Gangoli and Malpe Ports.
Thivruvantapuram Cyclone Warning Center issued instruction to hoist local cautionary signal to all seven ports.
