In 15 days, highest 106.1 MM rain received in May

Mysuru: A fortnight has gone, Mysuru district has already received double the seasonal rain expected in the month of May. According to official sources, 106.1 mm rainfall has been recorded against the forecast of 50.5 MM. The excess rainfall is 55.6 MM.

With Mysureans waking up to chilly weather in the last few days, the feel is like Malnad region. 

Though it was the effect of Asani cyclone in the last week, when Mysuru witnessed downpour throughout the day, rain continues to pound Mysuru even as the cyclone has weakened, due to the change in weather pattern.

During the corresponding month in 2021, 33.2 mm rain was recorded.

KR Nagar taluk popularly known as ‘Paddy Bowl’ received highest 236.4 mm rain, followed by T Narasipura taluk with 227.1 mm rain.

Beginning from March, there has been an increase in spell of rain as 30.1 MM rain was received against traditional 15.2 in March, followed by 71.6 MM against 66.2 in April. While in January, there was a deficit with 0.7 MM received against 2.7 MM in January and 0.8 MM against 4.4 in February.

Totally, in the last four-and-a-half months, from January till May 14, 209.3 MM rainfall has been received against the prognostication of 139 MM.

During the corresponding month in 2021, total 131.4 MM rainfall was received.
