Mysuru: Has JDS extended indirect support to Congress candidate Siddaramaiah in Varuna? At least that’s what people in the constituency are speculating.
For, JDS candidate Abhishek Manegar has not even initiated campaigning in the constituency, while Siddaramaiah’s son and sitting Varuna MLA Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah is busy campaigning in the segment. He is holding marathon meetings and seeking votes.
But ever since the Congress announced its first list and Siddaramaiah’s candidature from Varuna was announced, JDS candidate Abhishek has remained aloof fuelling speculations that the regional party may be extending indirect support to Congress in the constituency.
Meanwhile, Abhishek’s inactiveness has demotivated the party workers who are also thinking whether the party is indirectly supporting the Congress.
Abhishek who suffered defeat in the previous elections has managed to get a ticket again in the first list itself. He was busy in the initial days but now, he has remained incommunicado.
Party insiders say that, this has come to the notice of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and the plans are on to change the candidate too, as nothing is certain till the last date of filing nominations for the election on May 10.
