Mysuru: With 28 persons testing positive for the Corona virus, Nanjangud witnessed the Gouthama pancha Maharathotsava of Sri Srikanteshwara Swamy in a very low key manner, something unheard of in recent times.
Every year, devotees from far and wide celebrated the car festival with pomp and gaiety.
A tiny chariot was pulled by only a handful of devotees, symbolically to mark the occasion.
In view of the lockdown, the district administration has withdrawn all mass religious programmes.
Members of Yuva Brigade in Nanjangud pulled a little replica of Gouthama Ratha early morning and symbolically performed the Car festival.
Nanjangud temple is the biggest temple complex in Karnataka with a rich history located on the banks of river Kapila.
As many as 21 workers of a pharma company alone, located in Nanjangud have tested positive. They have been quarantined by the district administration.
