Covid-19: Railway coaches converted into isolation wards in Mysuru

Mysuru: The South Western Railways, Mysuru division has pitched in to fight the surging cases of Covid-19 in Mysuru and elsewhere by converting the rail coaches into hospitals and isolation wards. These mobile hospitals will move where ever it is required.

As many as 138 bogies have been converted into wards at its Ashokapuram station and another 28 bogies have been modified to suit quarantine. Together, they can house 966 patients.

Of the total bogies, 18 were modified at Mysuru railway station and 120 at Ashokapuram railway station.

Besides, two oxygen cylinders and two paramedics per crew have been kept ready. Also, there are dustbins and sanitisers in the coaches, according to a release issued by DRM Aparna Garg.
