Mysuru: Congress Rajya Sabha MP L Hanumanthaiah on Saturday slammed BJP led governments for its recent move to bring Anti- conversion law and raising the girls age for marriage to 21 years.
Hanumantaiah who addressed the media at Congress Bhavan in the city alleged that BJP led state and central governments have failed in policy making and is also underestimating the opposition party. In Rajya Sabha 13 MPs who raised the voice for the cause of farmers and anti- farmer Bills were suspended. It shows the way ruling party is curtailing the voice of opposition party in the parliament, Hanumantaiah said.
Uttar Pradesh government is deliberately maintaining the secrecy over the case involving Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra whose son rammed his vehicle on farmers. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi government is supporting UP government’s atrocity, Hanumantaiah alleged.
Without conducting any proper study and neglecting the debate in the house, Union government passed the Bill to increase age of women from 18 to 21 for marriage. It needs to be discussed elaborately in the interest of the society, Hanumantaiah stated.
BJP which is thrusting its agenda has already made a bid on anti- conversion law. The party harps on religious issues only to divert people’s attention from burning issues of the society, he said.
MLC Dr D Thimmaiah and Mysuru district rural Congress committee President Dr B J Vijaykumar were present.
