Chikkamagaluru: Congress sweeps Coffee land

Chikkamagalur: In a major shock to the BJP, C T Ravi, a four-time MLA and BJP’s Vokkaliga leader was defeated by Congress’ H D Thammaiah in Chikmagaluru. Not just in Chikmagaluru, but the Congress has swept the whole district winning all the five constituencies.
In Sringeri, CM’s political secretary and BJP candidate D N Jeevaraj lost to Congress T D Rajegowda, former Congress leader Motamma’s daughter Nayana Motamma has won from Mudigere, JDS’ YSV Datta lost his battle to K S Anand in Kadur and in Tarikere G H Srinivas of Congress have won.
Political analysts have begun to see the result as the loss of BJP rather than the victory of Congress. For C T Ravi has been the face of BJP here since very long time.
Taking to Twitter, CT Ravi said that “Today’s loss in the assembly election is our personal loss and not that of our ideology. We will introspect in the coming days and rectify our mistakes. Our efforts to build a Suvarna Karnataka will continue. I thank Kannadigas for all the support extended to us.”
