Centre approves procurement of green gram and black gram in Karnataka under Price Support Scheme

New Delhi: Union Agriculture Ministry has approved the procurement of green and black gram in Karnataka under the price support scheme for Kharif 2021- 22 season.

In an order issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Union Government has approved maximum quantity of 30,000 MT of green gram and 10,000 MT of black gram.

The process shall remain for a period of 90 days from the date decided by the Government of Karnataka.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai who met the union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and discussed about various issues. The discussion was mainly abouttthe agriculture practices in Karnataka and its development.

To double farmers income, the steps to be taken both by the state and central governments and new Agriculture Policy and the measurestto give more prominence to Karnataka were all discussed during the meeting, Bommai told media persons.

The chief minister also informed that the union agriculture minister will be coming to Bengaluru on September 5 to inaugurate Raitha Vidyanidhi and student scholarship schemes aimed at the welfare of farmers children.

The chief minister also met union Jal shakti minister and discussed about the case related to UKP-III project in Supreme Court and the demand put forth by both Karnataka and Maharashtra to issue a notification on the award of Brijesh Kumar Mishra Tribunal.

The chief minister sought the intervention of the centre to find a solution to the water dispute that is pending before Supreme Court for long.

As per Inter-State Water Disputes Act, Karnataka has taken a positive stand and the future step will be decided on the advise of State Attorney General, said Bommai.
