Mysuru: In the sensational Vidyaranyapuram shootout case, police have arrested a gang of six contract killers including four from North India within four days of the incident.

On Friday Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and DG & IGP Praveen Sood addressed the media and announced that total six accused were arrested from Mumbai, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, including two from Mysuru and Bengaluru.

The names are kept under wraps as the investigation is still underway. Two more accused involved in the case remain to be arrested.

Sood said “Police Commissioner had formed five squads and all the teams travelled day night across the northern part of the country and finally arrested the accused.”

Mysuru and Bengaluru men planned the robbery and further details are yet to be known. All the accused are contract killers and the cause of robbery may be business rivalry.

The accused in Mysuru and Bengaluru have criminal antecedents, who had served jail terms in several cases earlier, DGP added.

As the case was cracked, DGP announced the reward of Rs five lakh to the police involved in the investigation.

It may be mentioned that the armed robbers had barged into Amrutha Gold and Silver Palace in Vidyaranyapuram main road on Monday evening and robbed gold valuables.

Before leaving the shop, they had allegedly gunned down a youth identified as Chandrashekar.
